“Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them.”-Marcus Aurelius

PIM: Rikki. You are truely Poetry in Motion.Tell us about yourself, How did the journey begin. Where have your exploits taken you….. Tell Tell? Rikki:Thank you! Id say my journey started at the age of 5 when I started dancing. It got me used to performing and being on stage. Then starting drums at 13 gave me the push to be on stage in a more personal capacity. After school I studied music performance and sound engineering which is in the entertainment industry, and the I did a BCom Marketing to help with the business side of it. From there it literally grew from the lead role in a feature film, to performing on stage to 12 000 people, touring the country with bands, presenting for high profile shows like Top Gear, Petrolheads, acting on Isidingo and Clifton Shores, having a radio show, being in 2 bands – Chix with Stix and Splinter Town, and many more….and so it keeps growing.
Thats Awesome,What are some of your goals of being a model.Where would you want to be in ten years time?
Modelling is not something I consider as one of my main focuses, I dont call myself a model and dont really push that side of my career, although I will do modelling shoots if I am booked for them. I would like to be booked as a model because of what I stand for as a person and my capabilities beyond just modelling in front of a camera, so id say in 10 years id like to be getting booked for shoots because I am represent ambition and intellect as well.
FHM,Photoshoots,Adverts,TV. PIM has seen you in various forms of Media. What would you say was your proudest achievements,Care to Name a Few?
FHM was a big achievement back in the day, even though I hated the photos it was a great experience. I enjoyed the MNet advert I recently did, it was in slow motion and my whole face disfigured and it was fun to not just look “pretty” for once. Ive Also done the Locally Whipped Calendar which was weird that for a month people would see me every day. Other than that, there have been awesome interviews, photos, and write ups in many magazines, websites and newspapers.
Speaking of which. What’s a typical day in the life of Rikki Brest?
I am a freelancer, so the beauty of it is that every day is different. Its usually a 12 – 15 hour day including: teaching drums, band practice, meetings, admin, photoshoots, filming if I am booked for a shoot, gigs, events. I am a terrible morning person so I probably wake up a bit later than most people like at 8am, but then I usually work until 1 or 2am.
If you could cook PIM any meal and desert to blow us away…What would that be?
For the main meal I would cook mustard and rosemary garlic lamb with spring onion mashed potato, and desert would be phyllo pastry layered with a marscapone cheese and condensed milk cream, with black cherries. ( your mouth is watering right?)
Oh it is.If you had to have KIDNAP any sportsman/celeb, who would that be ha ha?
Sportsmen : Ryan Botha or Ryk Neethling. Celeb: Graem Richards or Colin Moss. (or the guy at the end of the new Debonaires advert!!) Gosh but it seems id kidnap quite a few people….guess I have to increase the space in my basement 🙂
Your dream shoot…Pick a location, a theme ?
Somewhere exotic… like Mauritius, obviously with a summer bikini theme 🙂
Whats your secret when you in front of the Camera?
To try not look like an idiot! Doesn’t always work though hehe
Oh and what would you regard as the sexiest part of your body and a guys?
On a guys body: id say lips and eyes.
On mine:….. I have no idea. But ive heard my eyes are so ill go with that.
What was the most bizarre and funny come on line that a guy has used on You?
There have been a few, ill share two haha:
– I was in Cape Town for a gig and the guy had asked where I was from and I said JHB so he said “Oh, so did you arrive by fax?”
– A guy told me “Ill even leave my mother for you”
Are you positive about SA…… “How would you entice people from around the world to visit SA…?
I am positive that SA is an incredibly beautiful place, and it is definitely worth exploring and experiencing at least a few times in a lifetime.
Tell us about one talent that you have that we never able to guess?
Ummmm…….im really good with Excel? haha
What’s your favourite fashion brand?\
I am really not into fashion, but I would have to say I love Sissy Boy jeans.
If you had a million rand, What would be your first purchase?
10% would go to an animal charity to buy food, 30% would go to helping my parents retire, and the rest would go towards a house one day.
Favorite Food and Drink:
Sushi and Granadilla juice
If you had to get someone drunk quickly, What would you order them at the bar he he?
Flaming Lamborghini….that pretty much does the trick!
Favorite perfume on you:
I like Hugo Boss – Deep Red or DKNY – Golden Delicious
One wish you would like to come through?
That there would be more positive newspaper headlines.
A quote that you always live by:
The more you do, the more you can do”
“A million times ive fallen, but never will I break”
If we snuck into your bedroom, what could we find you sleeping in?
PJs 🙂 and not the sexy kind… haha
What type of music have you been listening too lately:
Its usually rock, but lately alot of house – because I am about to launch my DJ career 🙂
Last movie you watched?
The Green Mile
What do you do to feel sexy?
Perform on stage
Would you say a woman can learn how to be a model, or modeling is something in the genes?
I think some of the top models are born with it, but I think people can learn to model, I dont think there should be a set way of “this is how to model” so they can always create their own style
If you could be anyone famous in the World today, who would you want to be and Why?
I wouldn’t be anyone else, let alone anyone famous. At that level you become public property and people think they own a piece of you, you get no privacy and are judged for every move you make – that doesn’t sound fun at all. I am grateful for my life and even though its difficult at times, I would not change it for anyone elses.
What do you think of the Playboy Brand in South Africa
I respect that the brand has brought a division to SA, but I must admit ive never seen an issue so I dont know what its like. Its also not something I would ever consider doing.
Are you single? Whilst we on the topic, How important is a guy’s dress sense to you….So PIM can spruce up and impress someone like you. What’s your ideal man?
Yes I am. Dress sense is not that important to me…im not impressed by superficial things like that, so brands wouldn’t make a difference etc. Although I am a rocker at heart so I do like a more edgy look. As long as he doesn’t have TERRIBLE or embarrassing dress sense, im ok with whatever. Although I love shopping for a guy, hate shopping for a girl so could always help him out if need be.
My ideal man is, ambitious, independent, down to earth, real, compassionate, gentle, generous, a hard worker, respectful and has a sense of humour…..do they exist??
If Rikki Brest wanted to impress PIM, What would you do to blow PIM oway on a date….Details please,,,from dressing up to activities
Hahaha I would just be myself….not to say that would impress you at all, but I dont see the point in trying to impress, because then the guy likes me for something im not. I would dress nicely, but nothing out of the ordinary how I would usually dress nicely, I would do my hair and smell nice etc but I would mainly just be natural, if he doesn’t like me like that, he never will and I prefer to know from the beginning.
Good luck Rikki. PIM wishes all the success in the future
Thank you so much for a really fun interview!
